General Business

The General Business degree and certificate programs are designed to provide students with a broad basis and foundational background in business without the depth in a particular business discipline. Our Business Leadership Building reflects our commitment to preparing future business leaders. All general education requirements necessary for graduation are met through the courses in the program as indicated above. Students who wish to take courses that differ from the general education courses indicated above must complete a course substitution request form. To access the form, login to the MyCCP portal, and in the Student tab, under Electronic Forms, click on the Records and Registration Forms link, then choose Request For Course Substitution Of Graduation Requirement link. Degrees & Certificates

A high-quality business degree should be structured to teach you the skills needed to be competitive in the workforce. Core concepts include financial reporting, ethical decision making, organizational communication, leadership and principles of management. Students can also align their program with their career goals by specializing in a certain area. Given the general nature of the a General Business degree, there are a wide variety of career opportunities available for these graduates, including positions in management, sales, insurance, banking, real estate and human resources, to name a few!

Career Opportunities

Rather than being a specialist, you will be a generalist, moderately versed in a variety of subjects within business, and to your own liking. The doors are thus wide open for careers in marketing, management, finance, or any of the other functions found in the College of Business. And if you decide to pursue further education, you will already be well grounded in all of the fundamentals, allowing you to dive in quickly and reach for even higher targets. Students may choose from a broad range of upper level business courses creating a degree diverse and applicable to several business fields upon graduation. Additionally, students may select several courses from the same area to increase understanding, application, and competency regarding that specific business discipline.

As you complete these courses you will become much more in tune with an area that you would like to pursue. The most important of these courses areGBUS 5- Introduction to Business because this is where you will get a birds-eye-view of the business environment. The CSU transfer degree has been developed as a fast-track degree for transfer into the CSU system. Start your career as an accounting professional, small business owner, social media marketer and more. The college experience wouldn't be complete without UHD's state-of-the-art recreation center, club teams and intramural sports.

General Business

Please review the Transfer Eligibility Requirements for a complete list of the requirements that must be met in order to be considered for admission to the undergraduate programs at UGA's Griffin campus. Since the general business degree offers students a broad introduction to business, students often use this degree as a precursor to pursuing a specialized master’s program. The General Business Department is responsible for teaching the general business courses required of all LeBow undergraduate students. These courses include Foundations of Business I and II and Business Consulting. Students can enhance their business major with courses in social entrepreneurship, decision making, leadership and more.
